Yin and Yang are the Taoist concepts which describe the two relative qualities present in everything. Yin is more internal, passive, cooling and downward. While Yang is more external, dynamic, warming and upward.
When these termes are applied to yoga, Yin Yoga is a slower practice where poses are passively held for longer, working on the deep, dense (Yin) connective tissues and joints in the body. Yang Yoga, in contrast , refers to a more active practice working on the (Yang) muscles and blood flow, building strenght, stamina and flexibility.
In this class, the dynamic Yang Yoga and the meditatieve Yin Yoga are blended together to create a balance between movement and rest in the body.
As it is a morning class, we are starting with an easy-going yin section, using longheld postures to help the body to wake up and to get ready to a dynamic flow- the yang section, that is meant to boost the energy and to help you to keep it up till the end of the day.
Isn’t it a perfect practice for the middle of the working week?
